Colo. flu numbers higher than same time last year

DENVER (AP) — Colorado flu numbers are slightly higher than this time last year.

The state health department says 52 cases had been reported across Colorado from Oct. 5 to Nov. 30, slightly higher than the same time last year.

Almost half of the reported cases this year have been in Denver and Arapahoe County.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1djC8MW ) that this year's vaccinations in the flu shot are a good match to the strains of flu across the country.

One Coloradan has died from influenza this season. Weld County health authorities reported last week that a male in his 20s died after contracting influenza. He had no other symptoms or health issues.

Eighty-seven percent of the cases reported this year in Colorado were the 2009 H1N1, or swine flu.
