Trucker convicted in Ohio double fatal

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A semitrailer driver has been convicted of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in a central Ohio crash earlier this year that killed two people.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://on.wkyc.com/1cnnvcR ) that 42-year-old Tony D. Smith could be jailed for up to 90 days for each conviction when he is sentenced Jan. 23.

Smith pleaded no contest to the charges Wednesday in a Columbus courtroom.

Authorities said the crash happened May 8 when Smith failed to notice slowing traffic. Smith's truck clipped a Jeep and hit two cars and a second semi, investigators said. The impact sent the second truck into a third car.

Killed in the crash were 71-year-old Diana Schwab of Beavercreek, near Dayton, and 48-year-old Robin Jones of London, west of Columbus.
