HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Police say they've now arrested 20 people in connection with a night of violence that followed a surfing contest in Huntington Beach.
The Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/191BXq9 ) on Wednesday says police have announced an additional six arrests since the July 28 melee.
The violence began when a crowd surged through downtown streets following the U.S. Open of Surfing. The mob broke windows, damaged police cars, fought and looted, causing several injuries and thousands of dollars in damage.
The six people arrested since the melee include three juveniles and they're suspected of crimes ranging from failing to disperse to assault with a deadly weapon and taking part in a riot.
