NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A 17-year-old boy has been charged in a central Ohio juvenile court with aggravated murder and other counts in the stabbing death of an 18-year-old friend last month near a high school.
The teen also was charged Monday in Newark with rape, kidnapping and tampering with evidence. He was accused of killing 18-year-old Danielle Michaels after her body was found Nov. 18 in the woods behind Reynoldsburg High School's Summit campus.
The teen said little during the court appearance, and his parents declined to speak with reporters afterward. He did not enter a plea.
The teen's father initially told reporters that his son said he accidentally wounded the girl while throwing a knife at a tree while they were high on drugs.
