Trucker charged in Ohio double fatal

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have charged a semitrailer driver with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in a central Ohio crash earlier this year that killed two people.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1fYCOvX ) reports that 42-year-old Tony Smith of Chicago has been charged in connection with the May crash on Interstate 70 in Columbus.

Attorney information for Smith wasn't immediately available Monday. The Dispatch said he will appear in court in Franklin County on Wednesday.

Authorities said the crash happened May 8 when Smith failed to notice slowing traffic. Smith's truck clipped a Jeep and hit two cars and a second semi, investigators said. The impact sent the second truck into a third car.

Killed in the crash were 71-year-old Diana Schwab of Beavercreek, near Dayton, and 48-year-old Robin Jones of London, west of Columbus.
