SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a State Highway Patrol trooper at the scene of an accident was struck by a passing vehicle along a highway in Ohio.
Multiple media outlets reported Tuesday that the crash happened overnight along Interstate 70 near Springfield, about 45 miles west of Columbus.
The Springfield News-Sun reports the trooper was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
WDTN-TV says investigators reported the trooper was helping a driver who lost control and crashed in a median when another driver spun out and hit them and their vehicles. The driver who was being helped by the trooper also was taken to a hospital and was expected to be OK.
There was no immediate word on any charges.
