BLUE VALLEY, Mo. (AP) — A suburban Kansas City physician has surrendered his Missouri medical license after he was accused of sexual improprieties with three teenage Boy Scouts.
The Kansas City Star (http://is.gd/GKCWGv ) reports that Joseph T. Mackey of Blue Springs had been scheduled for a hearing Tuesday in Jefferson City on whether he used his influence as a physician to engage his young patients in sexual activity. But he surrendered his license Monday rather than face further discipline by state regulators.
The 41-year-old Mackey strongly denied the allegations in an affidavit filed with the state.
Mackey was a leader of a Jackson County troop. He also volunteered for the Kansas City area's Heart of America Council of Boy Scouts as the medical director and ultimately as a member of the executive board.
