ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — A southeastern Ohio university is hosting a forum after an alleged sexual assault on a public street brought unwanted international attention in recent weeks.
Organizers say the event Thursday afternoon at Ohio University in Athens will be a dialogue about sexual assault, consent and bystander intervention.
The forum comes after a sex act on an uptown street was recorded by witnesses on cellphones cameras on Oct. 12 and widely circulated on the Internet. Afterward the woman contacted police and said she was a victim of sexual assault.
The man and woman have been identified, and police and prosecutors have met to consider possible charges. The county prosecutor said the grand jury meeting Monday may consider evidence in the case and decide if charges should be filed.
