CINCINNATI (AP) — A traveling replica of the powerful Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., is in Cincinnati for the first time this weekend.
The memorial, known as The Wall That Heals, has visited more than 350 cities and towns nationwide and opened up at Cincinnati's Union Terminal on Friday.
It's open through Sunday.
Memorial officials say it's designed for "the many thousands of veterans who have been unable to cope with the prospect of facing The Wall (in Washington) to find the strength to do so within their own communities."
At about 250 feet wide, the memorial is a half-scale replica of the D.C. version and in the same V-shape.
Like the wall in Washington, the replica lists the names of more than 58,000 American service members killed in the Vietnam War.
