PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Family and friends of a pregnant developmentally disabled woman who's been missing since last week are appealing for the public's help in finding her.
Twenty-one-year-old Luisa Pena has not been heard from since Wednesday.
She is three months pregnant, has a profound speech impediment and does not drive.
Iraida Williams of the Sherlock Center on Disabilities tells WJAR-TV that Pena may not understand what is going on around her.
Pena attended Central Falls High School and was there last Tuesday to speak with some of her old teachers. Teacher Jordana Tillinghast says Pena was scared and shaking.
Pena reported an assault by two men to police last week and said she worried that put her in more danger.
