Pickup driver dies after crashing into SUV in Ohio

SHARON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in central Ohio say a 51-year-old man has died after slamming his pickup into the back of a malfunctioning vehicle driven by a 75-year-old woman.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says Curtis Randall Hicks of Columbus died following the 7:30 p.m. Sunday accident that happened about 15 miles north of Columbus.

Authorities say Millie Embaugh of Blacklick was headed east on Interstate 270 in Sharon Township when her 2004 Mercury Mountaineer apparently began having mechanical problems. She was trying to maneuver the vehicle to the median when her sport utility vehicle was struck by a 1992 Chevy S10 pickup driven by Hicks.

Embaugh was transported to Riverside Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
