Ohio man sentenced in death of girlfriend's son

MT. VERNON, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges in the death of his girlfriends' 4-year-old son.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1cEP82B ) reports Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster on Friday sentenced 39-year-old David R. Scott Jr., who also faced child endangering charges for physically abusing the deceased boy and three other children.

The four children's mother, 27-year-old Tabitha M. Raver, had claimed the boy was injured by falling down the stairs at their home.

Prosecutors have said the boy died of internal injuries inconsistent with falls.

Raver has been sentenced to six years in prison on child endangering charges and for falling to protect her children from Scott's abuse.

Scott's attorney didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.
