COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Pulitzer Prize winner and physician is coming to the University of South Carolina to discuss his best-selling book on cancer.
Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee is scheduled to speak on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Room of Capstone House.
His book, "The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer," was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential books of the last 100 years.
It won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction. It has been hailed as a ground-breaking tale of cancer from its first documented appearance thousands of years ago to the present-day cutting edge science attempting to conquer it.
Mukherjee's speech is free and open to the public.
