PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia police have called a news conference after announcing that a woman and child whose bodies were found in a burned apartment had suffered other injuries.
Police were refusing to release other details until the Monday afternoon press briefing, but said in an email announcing the news conference that 35-year-old Atlanta Deveney "appears to have trauma to the head."
They also say her son, 12-year-old Elijah Rosado "suffered stab wounds to his chest and neck."
The bodies were found by firefighters who responded to the fire in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood, after the blaze was extinguished on Saturday.
Police had previously said the fire was "suspicious" but have not immediately identified a suspect or arrested anyone on charges of starting the fire or inflicting the other injuries on the victims.
