COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man sentenced to die for killing two men during a 1994 shooting spree has been moved to the death house ahead of his scheduled execution Wednesday.
A prisons spokeswoman says 61-year-old Harry Mitts Jr. arrived at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Mitts received the death penalty in the killings of John Bryant and Garfield Heights police Sgt. Dennis Glivar (GLEE'-var).
Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sik) has denied Mitts mercy, and his legal appeals are exhausted. His attorney says Mitts is repentant for his crimes and is more concerned with eternal judgment by a higher power than with what state officials or lawyers may do.
The lethal injection scheduled for Mitts will be the last before Ohio's supply of deadly drugs runs out.
