COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say no one was seriously hurt when a suspected shoplifter fired a gun inside a central Ohio grocery store.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says someone at a Kroger store in Columbus had tried to confront the suspect, who ran but was taken into custody after a short chase Wednesday.
One witness, Debbie Boalick, tells WBNS-TV (http://bit.ly/18c882W ) the armed man knocked her into a cooler and pushed her daughter aside before jumping onto the counter of the store's pharmacy. Another witness, Verdia Thompson, says a pharmacist said the suspect had fired at the pharmacy window. No one was hit.
There was no immediate word on any charges.
A Kroger representative says an armed security guard was inside the store at the time of the shooting.
