CANTON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man has been arrested in connection with the 2007 murder of a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Police and federal agents participated in the Wednesday arrest of 33-year-old Chester Ray Crank. Police have charged the Canton man with aggravated burglary and aggravated murder in the death of 87-year-old Bennie Angelo.
Firefighters found Angelo dead when they responded to a fire at his home in 2007. Angelo had a gunshot wound and investigators believe the fire was started on purpose to conceal the murder.
Detectives on Wednesday also searched Crank's home.
Police could not say if Crank has an attorney. He is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
