CINCINNATI (AP) — Sometimes it seems as if the University of Cincinnati president is everywhere.
That's because Santa Ono (OH'-noh) shows up at football games, setting up chairs at evening campus gatherings, even helping freshmen students move in. And he sends messages out over Twitter at all hours.
Now in his second year leading Ohio's second-largest university, Ono is familiar on social media as "PrezOno." He has nearly 22,000 followers of his tweets, which provide information on the school, local food, sports and entertainment, among many other topics.
The head of a Washington-based higher education group says college officials are increasingly using social media to communicate with students. Ono says Twitter is a rapid, efficient way to communicate as he tackles the challenges of growing school.
