TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Toledo's current mayor is among a large group of candidates seeking to advance to November's mayoral election.
Voters in the state's fourth-largest city will narrow the field down to the top two vote-getters in Tuesday's nonpartisan primary.
Independent Mayor Mike Bell is seeking a second term in office. The former state fire marshal is one of eight candidates in the race.
Others running to become Toledo's mayor are Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez and city Councilman Joe McNamara. Both are Democrats.
Independent Councilman D. Michael Collins who's a retired police officer also is in the race.
Election officials are predicting a low turnout.
