AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Who said soap box derby racing is reserved for children?
Northeast Ohio seniors on Thursday will have a chance to race down a 989-foot track in Akron using gravity-powered adult soap box derby cars.
Akron's coordinator for active adult programs, Sally Nyburg, says this is a unique opportunity for those who missed out on the childhood experience of riding down the hill at the city's Derby Downs. This is the third consecutive year that the track hosts a seniors race.
In July, Akron's track hosted the 76th annual All-American Soap Box Derby where more than 440 young racers competed.
