COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio is sending a fire crew to help fight forest fires in California.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the crew leaving this weekend from Columbus will help fight fires in Klamath National Forest in northern California.
The latest Ohio crew will consist of 20 firefighters. Five members are employees of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Another crew already is working in Six Rivers National Forest in northern California. That crew also has 20 members, including nine from the state agency.
An earlier crew just returned from fighting a blaze in Oregon.
The department's Division of Forestry keeps a list of trained and qualified Ohio firefighters who have indicated their willingness to travel out of Ohio to fight wildfires.
