AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Aug. 21 and also available on the Internet at http://www.txfishing.com :

CENTRAL

BASTROP: Water clear; 88-92 degrees. Black bass are good on green pumpkin deep diving crankbaits and soft plastics. Crappie are fair on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are very good on shrimp, minnows, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

BELTON: Water stained; 80-84 degrees; 10.57' low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are good on white Riversides at night under lights. White bass are fair on white Riversides at night under lights. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on hot dogs and summer sausage. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch.

BROWNWOOD: Water stained to murky; 86-90 degrees; 8.49' low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on crankbaits, Shaky Heads, chartreuse/white spinnerbaits, and on green pumpkin, redbug, or watermelon seed soft plastic worms around docks in 4-10 feet, and on flukes and buzzbaits in flooded grass. White bass are good on Li'l Fishies off lighted docks at night in 5-15 feet. Crappie are excellent on minnows and white or shad Li'l Fishies over baited brush piles in 8-15 feet. Channel catfish to 5 pounds are good on cheesebait and cut shad near the Hwy. 279 Bridge. Blue catfish to 5 pounds are good on prepared bait near the Hwy. 279 Bridge in 5-8 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

BUCHANAN: Water stained; 83-87 degrees; 30.66' low. Black bass are fair on Pop-R's, shad flukes, and watermelon red Whacky Sticks on jigheads along ledges in 8-15 feet at daylight. Striped bass are fair on Spoiler Shads on the surface at first light, and drifting or free lining live bait from Lighthouse Point to the dam. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel catfish are fair on shrimp and dipbait. Yellow and blue catfish are very good on rod/reel, juglines and trotlines baited with goldfish and perch upriver.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 83-87 degrees; 10.86' low. Black bass are fair on JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters and watermelon red Whacky Sticks along grassy banks early and late, and on Texas rigged green pumpkin worms along break lines. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on perch colored spinnerbaits. Smallmouth bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and blue Curb's jigs. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on live bait.

COLEMAN: Water clear; 82-86 degrees; 14.27' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon red spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastics. Hybrid striper are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait, nightcrawlers, and liver. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) No report available.

FAYETTE: Water stained. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Channel and blue catfish are good on cut shad, liver, and shrimp over baited holes.

GRANBURY: Water stained; 86-90 degrees; 7.31' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon and chartreuse Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits, and on green pumpkin soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on silver/white striper jigs. White bass are fair on shad colored Li'l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on stinkbait and nightcrawlers.

GRANGER: Water clear; 86-90 degrees; 1.24' low. Black bass are good on black Power Worms in 5-12 feet. White bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps along shallow roadbeds early. Crappie are good on chartreuse jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles in 5-15 feet. Blue catfish are good on prepared baits and shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

LBJ: Water stained; 85-89 degrees; 0.35' low. Black bass are good on black/blue Curb's Erratic jigs, blue flake Whacky Sticks, and Texas rigged Big Pigs around docks and lay downs in 5-12 feet early. Striped bass are good on Creme Lure's 2" Spoiler Shads and Li'l Fishies at night. White bass are good on Li'l Fishies at night. Crappie are fair on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are very good on nightcrawlers, shrimp, and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are very good on trotlines baited with goldfish and perch.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water lightly stained; 86-90 degrees; 2.56' low. Black bass are fair on green pumpkin soft plastics and shallow running crankbaits near the dam. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and orange/chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp. Blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

PROCTOR: Water stained; 87-91 degrees; 6.34' low. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are good on silver spoons and striper jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are fair on live bait.

SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 87-91 degrees; 6.15' low. Black bass are good on watermelon and green pumpkin spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Perch are very good on worms. Channel and blue catfish are very good on cut shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

STILLHOUSE: Water stained; 83-87 degrees; 8.70' low. Black bass are good on black/blue crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastic worms. White bass are good on pet spoons and slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on minnows and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

TRAVIS: Water clear; 86-90 degrees; 58.65' low. Black bass are good on chartreuse crankbaits and watermelon worms in 15-30 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on smoke grubs and Li'l Fishies in 20-40 feet. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on nightcrawlers and cut perch in 30-45 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG: Water lightly stained. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are fair on silver spoons. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on minnows, shrimp, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

WHITNEY: Water stained; 84-88 degrees; 11.31' low. Black bass are fair on green pumpkin soft plastic worms and Rat-L-Traps near drop offs. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows early. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Catfish are fair on shrimp and stinkbait.

NORTHEAST

ATHENS: Water clear, 81-86 degrees; 3.91' low. Black bass are slow on weightless Senkos, wacky worms and shakyheads. The evening topwater bite improving. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. Catfish are good on cut shad.

BOB SANDLIN: Water clear; 82-86 degrees; 6.89' low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged Zoom U-Tail worms and Baby Brush Hogs in green pumpkin. Crappie are fair on jigs. White bass are fair on slabs and minnows. Catfish are good on trotlines.

BONHAM: Water stained, 82-87 degrees; 1.31' low. Black bass are fair in flooded vegetation and around cattails — crankbaits and soft plastics have been best. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows under the bridges and on brush piles. Catfish are excellent drift fishing.

BRIDGEPORT: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 19.34' low. Black bass are fair on shad pattern squarebills and topwaters. Crappie are good on minnows around the bridge. White bass are good on slabs (late evening schooling occurring). Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Channel catfish are fair on trotlines and prepared bait.

CADDO: Water stained; 81-86 degrees; 1.11' low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged creature baits around stumps. White and yellow bass are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines and cut bait. CEDAR CREEK: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 5.79' low. Black bass are good on swim jigs and bladed jigs. Some fish being caught on Carolina rigs in deeper water from brush piles. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs and topwaters. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are good on trotlines and prepared bait.

COOPER: Water clear; 82-86 degrees; 10.94' low. Black bass are good on nail weighted Flukes and wacky worms. Crappie are good on jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Catfish are fair on cut bait and trotlines.

FAIRFIELD: Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD has discontinued stocking the lake after another kill in early September 2011. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.

FORK: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 5.59' low. Black bass are good on drop shots in 20-35' of water near channel bends and brush piles. The shallow bite has been consistent throughout the day on Texas rigged LFT Flippers in black/blue. Frog bite near grass beds has been sporadic. Yellow bass and white bass are slow on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows near bridges and brush piles. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

GRAPEVINE: Water clear; 81-86 degrees; 8.13' low. Black bass are good on finesse worms and shakyheads. Some fish being caught on deeper brush piles with jigs, deep crankbaits and smaller jigging spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on cut shad.

JOE POOL: Water clear; 82-87 degrees; 1.79' low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged soft plastics along brush piles in 10-12'. Some fish being caught on weightless soft jerkbaits and Senkos as well. Small swimbaits are effective as well. Crappie are fair on jigs. White bass are good on minnows. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared bait.

LAKE O' THE PINES: Water lightly stained; 82-86 degrees; 3.28' low. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged creature baits and craws. Crappie are slow on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines and cut shad. LAVON: Water lightly stained; 82-87 degrees; 10.02' low. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged soft plastics and jigs along deeper points. White bass are fair on slabs and minnows. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines and prepared bait. LEWISVILLE: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 6.97' low. Black bass are fair on flick shake worms and smaller jigs. Crappie are slow on minnows near the marinas. White bass are good on jigs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Catfish are good on cut shad.

MARTIN CREEK: Water clear; 82-86 degrees; 3.90' low. Black bass are slow on weightless Senkos around shallow cover and hollow body frogs early in the day in the same areas. Crappie are slow on jigs. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are good on prepared bait and trotlines.

MONTICELLO: Water fairly clear; 82-87 degrees; 0.22' high. Black bass are good on shad pattern squarebill crankbaits and swimjigs near stumps. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. Catfish are good on cut shad and trotlines.

PALESTINE: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 1.38' low. Black bass are good on shakyheads and split shot rigs near docks and timber closest to deep water. Crappie are fair on minnows. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. White bass are fair on jigs and minnows. Catfish are good on cut bait.

RAY HUBBARD: Water clear; 82-86 degrees; 4.85' low. Black bass are fair on medium crankbaits along rip rap. Heavy shakyhead setups are effective as well. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Catfish are good on cut shad and trotlines.

RAY ROBERTS: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 5.65' low. Black bass are good on Carolina rigged worms near deeper brush piles. The late evening frog bite is good around shallow vegetation. Crappie are good on minnows. White bass are good on slabs and minnows. Catfish are good on prepared bait and trotlines.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS: Water clear; 82-87 degrees; 8.83' low. Black bass are good on medium crankbaits near brush piles in 8-10'. Topwater bite effective early and late with poppers working best. White bass are good on slabs and minnows. Hybrid striper are good on slabs. Crappie are fair on jigs. Catfish are good on prepared bait.

TAWAKONI: Water stained; 82-86 degrees; 7.65' low. Black bass are excellent on Texas rigged creature baits rigged with heavier weights around shallow cover — black buzzbaits in early morning are effective as well. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on slabs and minnows. Striped bass and hybrid striper are good on slabs. Catfish are good on cut bait and trotlines.

TEXOMA: Water clear; 81-85 degrees; 0.26' high. Black bass are fair on topwaters and shakyheads. Striped bass are good on slabs. Catfish are good on trotlines. WEATHERFORD: Water clear; 81-86 degrees; 6.84' low. Black bass slow around docks and on deeper brush piles. Best bite has been midday. Shakyheads and drop shots with blue fleck soft plastics have been working as well. No report on other species. Please call ahead as low water is making launching difficult.

WRIGHT PATMAN: Water lightly stained; 81-86 degrees; 5.39' high. Black bass are good on Missile Baits D Bombs in black/blue fished slow around shallow cover. Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. Catfish are good on cut bait. SOUTH

AMISTAD: Water murky; 83-87 degrees; 47.80' low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastic worms with chartreuse tails, jigs, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Catfish are fair on cheesebait, shrimp, chicken livers, and nightcrawlers over baited holes. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines, juglines, and droplines around rockslides baited with live perch. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

BRAUNIG: Water clear. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are good on liver and shad off points near the pier. Redfish are fair on perch, shad, and silver spoons. Channel catfish are good on liver, shrimp, cut bait, and cheesebait near the dam. Blue catfish are good on cut bait and live bait.

CALAVERAS: Water clear. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are fair on chicken livers and shad along the shoreline. Redfish are good on live bait along the crappie wall and the dam. Channel and blue catfish are fair on liver, cheesebait, and shad near the railroad trestle and 181 Cove. Yellow catfish are slow.

CHOKE CANYON: Water clear; 85-89 degrees; 21.64' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and Carolina rigged soft plastic worms early and late. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Drum are fair on nightcrawlers. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and punchbait. Yellow catfish are good on live perch.

COLETO CREEK: Water clear; 2.91' low. Black bass are fair on pumpkinseed spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. White bass are fair on slabs and small spinnerbaits. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp, liver, and live perch. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines and juglines baited with live perch.

FALCON: Water murky; 88-92 degrees; 39.50' low. Black bass are good on green pumpkin crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

SOUTHEAST

CONROE: Water lightly stained; 85-89 degrees; 3.27' low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse and watermelon red Carolina rigged soft plastics, Senkos, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on white striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on doughbait and shrimp.

GIBBONS CREEK: Water clear. Black bass are good on watermelon Carolina rigged soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and live perch.

HOUSTON COUNTY: Water stained; 87-91 degrees; 1.79' low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on dark metal flake spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Carolina rigged soft plastic worms in 15 feet. Crappie are good on minnows around structure. Bream are good on live worms off grass beds around the islands. Channel catfish are fair on juglines baited with perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

LIVINGSTON: Water stained; 85-89 degrees; 1.35' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon Rat-L-Traps and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on silver spoons and striper jigs. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Blue catfish are fair on shrimp and shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN: Water lightly stained; 82-86 degrees; 5.28' low. Black bass are fair on watermelon Rat-L-Traps and topwaters in reeds early. White bass are fair on spoons over humps. Crappie are fair on minnows over baited holes. Bream are fair on nightcrawlers. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with liver and nightcrawlers.

ALAN HENRY: Water lightly stained; 87-92 degrees; 12.78' low. Black bass are fair to good on Zara Spooks early, later switching to Carolina rigs, drop shot rigs and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and minnows over brush piles. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.

ARROWHEAD: Water off color; 86-89 degrees; 14.9' low. Black bass are good on topwaters early, later switching to weightless Senkos, Texas rigs and medium running crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are good on prepared bait.

FORT PHANTOM HILL: Water clear; 87-89 degrees; 10.09' low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs, spinnerbaits, shakyheads and drop shot rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs over structure. White bass are fair to good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers.

HUBBARD CREEK: Water off color; 87-92 degrees; 20.24' low. Black bass are fair to good on DD22s, Texas rigs, shakyheads and split shot rigged flukes. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around deep water structure. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers.

OAK CREEK: Water stained; 86-92 degrees; 20.18' low. Black bass are fair to good on jigs, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are good on jigs and live minnows. Catfish are good on prepared bait.

O.H. IVIE: Water stained; 87-92 degrees; 39.79' low. Black bass are good on topwaters early, later switching to Rat-L-Traps, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs around deep water structure. White bass are fair on topwaters and Rooster Tails. Catfish are fair to good on prepared bait.

POSSUM KINGDOM: Water fairly clear; 86-91 degrees; 11.06' low. Black bass are good on drop shot rigs, Texas rigs, jigs and Carolina rigs. Crappie are fair to good on minnows and jigs over brush piles. White bass are fair to good on tail spinners. Striped bass are fair on live shad and Sassy Shad. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

COASTAL

NORTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad on soft plastics. Redfish are good under rafts of shad on topwaters. Redfish are good in the marsh on small topwaters.

SOUTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Trout are good at the jetty on live bait and topwaters. Trout are good in the surf on topwaters and shad.

BOLIVAR: Trout are good on the outgoing tide at Rollover Pass on MirrOlures and soft plastics. Redfish have been taken at the mouth of the marsh on Gulps. Tarpon have been showing along the beach.

TRINITY BAY: Trout are good for drifters working pods of shad and mullet. Trout are good around the wells on live shrimp and croakers. Trout, redfish and flounder are good at the spillway on live bait.

EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are good for drifters working deep shell on glow, plum and purple Sand Eels, Bass Assassins, Tidal Surges and TTF plastics. Trout are fair to good on the shell adjacent to the channel on live shrimp and croakers.

WEST GALVESTON BAY: Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Trout are good in the surf on live bait and topwaters. Offshore is good for kingfish, ling and dolphin. Tarpon are good along the beachfront.

TEXAS CITY: Trout are fair to good on the reefs and in the channel on live shrimp and croakers. Redfish and sand trout are fair to good in Moses Lake on shrimp.

FREEPORT: Trout are good at San Luis Pass on shrimp, MirrOlures and soft plastics. Trout, redfish, sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs in Christmas and Bastrop bay.

EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are good for drifters on live shrimp over mid-bay reefs. Redfish and black drum have been good in the middle of the bay. Trout and redfish are good for waders tossing croakers on the south shoreline.

WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair on sand and grass humps on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish and black drum are fair on live shrimp in Oyster Lake and around Shell island. Trout are good in the surf on live bait and topwaters.

PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are fair to good on topwaters and live bait over sand, grass and shell in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp. Tarpon have been found around the jetty. Trout are good in the surf and at the jetty.

ROCKPORT: Trout are good in the guts and channels on free-lined shrimp. Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live shrimp. Redfish are good on piggy perch and shrimp around Mud Island.

PORT ARANSAS: Trout, redfish and sheepshead are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp and croakers. Trout are good in the surf on topwaters and croakers. Offshore is good for dolphin, ling, kingfish and tuna.

CORPUS CHRISTI: Trout are fair to good on the edge of the spoils on piggy perch, Gulps and live shrimp. Redfish are good in the potholes on shrimp. Trout are good in the surf on croakers and live shrimp.

BAFFIN BAY: Trout are good on topwaters and soft plastics around rocks and grass. Redfish are fair to good on the flats on small topwaters. Trout are good at night in the Land Cut on glow plastics and Gulps.

PORT MANSFIELD: Trout are good on topwaters on the edge of the channel and around sand and grass along spoils. Redfish are fair to good while drifting pot holes with Gulps under a popping cork.

SOUTH PADRE: Trout are good over sand and grass in South Bay. Tarpon are showing at the pass. Redfish are best on the flats on gold spoons and Gulps under popping cork.

PORT ISABEL: Trout and redfish are fair to good on the flats on live shrimp and DOA Shrimp under a popping cork. Trout are good on the deeper edges and flats on live shrimp and Gulps.
