Ohio workshop aims to help ex-offenders find jobs

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Several state agencies are partnering with a central Ohio community college and other organizations to help ex-offenders find work.

Ohio law now makes it easier for ex-offenders to find a job after paying their debt to society.

The head of Ohio's Development Services Agency says correctional facilities provide employment skills, but getting hired can be difficult.

Development Director David Goodman says the summit this coming Thursday at Columbus State Community College is aimed at getting people back to work.

The event will include information on starting a business and financial resources for returning to school. Participants will have access to free professional clothing.

The state says the workshop is free and open to those with a criminal past who are looking to make a change.
