Couple in custody in central Ohio toddler's death

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Sheriff's deputies in central Ohio say the parents of a 16-month-old girl who died after being left in a room with a space heater on last month have turned themselves in.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said 29-year-old Michael Wilder and 23-year-old Greta Sahatciu surrendered Tuesday night. They were charged earlier this week with a felony count of endangering children, and Wilder faces an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Deputies said Maiya Wilder was unresponsive when her father rushed her to a Columbus hospital on June 29. She died two days later.

Detectives said they determined that the toddler was left unattended for 10 hours in a bedroom with a space heater on.

The couple is in jail, which did not attorney information for them Wednesday.
