Man injured when bridge jumper lands on him

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — A Missoula man suffered broken legs and torn ligaments in his knees when another man jumped from a bridge over the Clark Fork River and landed in his lap.

KECI-TV reports (http://bit.ly/134R6nD) Andy Hill and his wife were floating under a bridge near East Missoula on Sunday when a man jumped off the bridge and landed on him.

Hill says he was suddenly in intense pain and under water.

As the man swam Hill to shore, he kept apologizing. The man's friend helped him as well.

Hill suffered broken bones in both lower legs and a cracked fibula in his left leg.

Hill will likely spend the rest of the summer in a wheelchair or on crutches.

The Missoula County sheriff's department says the man who jumped from the bridge could face criminal endangerment charges.
