PARKING LOT PARK-PHILADELPHIA — Fairmount Park Conservancy, the city of Philadelphia, the city's Parks and Recreation department and the William Penn Foundation open a temporary public park named "The Oval" near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, located on a redecorated public parking lot temporarily closed through at least October.

11 a.m. BOX--CHAMBERS-PHILADELPHIA WORKOUT — Philadelphia professional boxer "Fast" Eddie Chambers participates in a workout open to news coverage, to promote his scheduled Saturday, Aug. 3, 10-round cruiserweight bout against Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu at the Mohegan Sun casino resort in Uncasville, Conn., as part of a "Three to See" event to be televised by the NBC Sports Network.

5:30 - 7 p.m. PEDIATRIC PATIENTS-DOGS — About 20 children treated at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for face, jaw and skull conditions, along with clinicians and nurses from the hospital's craniofacial program, meet four dogs treated for similar conditions by veterinary dental and oral surgery professionals from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine, during the school's "Best Friends Bash" event funded by a grant from the university's Center for Human Appearance.
