CLEVELAND (AP) — Patrons of a downtown Cleveland nightclub have been greeted this weekend with a sign saying it is closed.
Cleveland's WKYC television reports that Lounge 75's lease has been canceled by its landlord, a week after a fatal shooting. A 23-year-old man was gunned down near the club, and a 21-year-old woman was wounded in the ankle in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 22.
A city councilman had vowed to go after the club's liquor license and try to shut it down. Officials had expressed concern that the nightspot could taint the downtown's image.
There was no telephone number available Saturday for the nightclub.
