Opponent says gay marriage rulings could lead to legalized polygamy

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Christian advocacy group says the Supreme Court's gay marriage rulings could lead to legalization of polygamy.

Ken Klukowski, director of the Family Research Council's Center for Religious Liberty, says he sees nothing in the court's reasoning on gay marriage that would prevent polygamous families from also demanding full recognition.

He notes that polygamy already is legal in dozens of Muslim countries, and that American polygamists have asked a federal court to find Utah's ban on multi-partner marriages unconstitutional.

Sound: Upcoming
