WAVERLY, Ohio (AP) — State Highway Patrol troopers are looking for the driver of a car who fled a southern Ohio crash that left two people dead and a 14-year-old boy injured.
The patrol said the two-vehicle crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. Monday in Pike County, about 65 miles south of Columbus. Two adults and the teen were in a Plymouth Breeze that was hit by a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, whose driver then fled on foot.
The two people in the Breeze were dead at the scene. The boy was in stable condition at a Columbus hospital early Tuesday.
The Breeze caught fire after the crash, and a trooper suffered burns as he tried to get the occupants out.
Search dogs were brought in to try to track down the other driver. No names have been released.
