Vt. assisted living facility closing by fall

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — Rutland Manor, a 32-room assisted living facility in the Vermont city, is planning to close its doors by September.

The facility, run by Genesis HealthCare, issued 90-day notices to its 20 residents and their families last week, but a spokeswoman said they hope to close prior to the Sept. 14 deadline.

The Nichols Street facility has 32 rooms and offers staff coverage 24 hours a day.

Genesis spokeswoman Jeanne Moore tells the Rutland Herald (http://bit.ly/19ncxBd ) here were only 20 residents and an equal number of employees and a significant portion of the residents have medical conditions that might qualify them for skilled nursing care.

Genesis operates other facilities in Rutland and one in Claremont, N.H.
