'Wild Blue Yonder' features sky pirates, adventure

The first issue of the "Wild Blue Yonder," comic book miniseries about the captivating adventures of a female teen pilot is finally being released, seven years after Mike Raicht wrote it in one sitting.

The five-issue series from Raicht, Zach Howard and Austin Harrison of Noble Transmission is being released Wednesday.

It centers on Cola, a skilled upstart pilot whose adventures form a tale set in a world where humanity lives among the clouds in floating airships while avoiding the broken, poisoned earth.

The story is decidedly post-apocalyptic in its telling and design, notes Raicht, but that's the aim. And the words blend seamlessly with Howard's art, says Harrison, who says the story has been refined and expanded since the first incarnation.
