YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a weekend shooting in Youngstown left a man dead and his 76-year-old mother wounded.

Police said 37-year-old Joseph Vanderpool was found dead on his front porch early Sunday. He appeared to have gunshot wounds to his soldier.

His mother, 76-year-old Rosemary Vanderpool told police she was shot in the leg after she heard her son yell and opened the door. She said a shot came through the door, striking her in the thigh.

The (Youngstown) Vindicator (http://bit.ly/13sEzK1 ) reports that no suspects have been identified yet. Police said it was the city's fifth homicide of 2013.
