COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Thousands of cyclists are taking part this weekend in Ohio's celebrated cross-state bicyle tour, the Tour of the Scioto River Valley.
The event has grown from a father-son outing in 1962 to the largest bicycle touring weekend in the nation. About 2,500 riders are expected for its 52nd run.
Riders began their journey from the Statehouse in Columbus for the two-day, 210-mile round-trip ride to Portsmouth on the Ohio River
Officials are warning motorists along the route to be on the lookout for cyclists throughout the weekend and to use care.
