Ohio man gets 20 years in father's shooting death

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio man who inadvertently killed his father during a neighborhood dispute last year has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

A judge in Columbus sentenced 31-year-old Joey Davis on Thursday. He pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter and other charges.

Police say Davis fired shots in a dispute with a neighbor in Columbus last May 28, and accidentally shot his father, 52-year-old Jeffrey Stewart, in the head. Police initially thought Davis exchanged gunfire with another man, but investigators determined all the shots came from his weapon.

The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/130cjdU ) reports that several of Davis' family members and friends cursed at Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Pat Sheeran when he announced the sentence and were ordered out of the courtroom.
