Derby veterinarian Bramlage re-enters hospital

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Derby on-call veterinarian Larry Bramlage has been re-admitted to a Lexington hospital for observation nearly a week after suffering a head injury at Churchill Downs.

Bramlage was hospitalized last Thursday after being briefly knocked unconscious when his golf cart overturned on the backstretch at the track. Mary Scollay filled in for Bramlage as the Derby's on-call veterinarian that provides equine injury updates there and at other major races.

Alex Riddle, a spokesman for Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital where Bramlage is a surgeon, would not give details on what happened to him or where he is hospitalized. Riddle says updates on Bramlage's condition would be released as they become known.
