NORTH RANDALL, Ohio (AP) — A second Ohio race track is ready to begin slots-style racino gambling.
Thistledown race track near Cleveland plans a grand opening Tuesday for its more than 1,000 video lottery terminals, which operate like slot machines.
Thistledown underwent an $88 million makeover and will have restaurants, bars and live and simulcast horse racing.
The racino is a joint venture involving the backers of Ohio's first casino, Horseshoe Cleveland. The burgeoning gambling scene in Ohio also includes casinos in Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.
The Scioto (sy-OH'-tuh) Downs racino opened last year south of Columbus. There are five more racino gambling locations to come in Ohio.
Construction on two will be delayed because regulators want more enclosed seating for spectators watching live racing.
