Ohio man pleads not guilty to impersonating police

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man who had a car equipped with emergency lights, a siren and a dashboard camera has pleaded not guilty to impersonating a police officer.

The Summit County sheriff's office in Akron says 48-year-old Sean Duffy was arrested Monday. The Springfield Township resident also is known as John Kidd.

He pleaded not guilty in Barberton Municipal Court, and a $5,000 signature bond was set Tuesday.

The sheriff's office says the suspect claimed at different times that he was a retired sheriff's deputy and retired Canton patrolman.

The sheriff's office says his police-equipped car with expired license plates caught the attention of shoppers concerned whether the man was a police impersonator.

A message seeking comment was left Wednesday for a defense attorney listed in the suspect's court docket.
