Clergy lead rallies for and against gay marriage

WASHINGTON (AP) — Clergy have led rallies for and against gay marriage as the issue was argued before the Supreme Court.

The Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop, Gene Robinson, told a gay rights rally that religious conservatives don't have a monopoly on the Bible and that God loves everyone.

Meanwhile, a March for Marriage rally featured the Rev. Jim Garlow, a California pastor who supported his state's ban on gay marriage. He warned the Supreme Court justices that they'll face God's judgment if they redefine marriage.

Garlow was joined by Roman Catholic Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco and by Bishop Harry Jackson, an African American church leader who prayed, "Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered at the Supreme Court."
