MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A federal jury in Minnesota has convicted three alleged members of an American Indian gang accused of terrorizing people in the Upper Midwest.

Jurors on Tuesday convicted the alleged leader of the Native Mob, 34-year-old Wakinyon Wakan (wahk-IHN'-yawn wahk-ON') McArthur, on charges including racketeering conspiracy but acquitted him on an attempted murder charge.

Alleged gang "soldiers" 26-year-old Anthony Francis Cree was found guilty of charges including racketeering conspiracy and attempted murder in aid of racketeering, and 25-year-old William Earl Morris was convicted of charges including attempted murder in aid of racketeering.

Prosecutors say the men conspired to commit violent crimes to maintain the gang's power. Defense attorneys say there's no evidence of racketeering.

They were among 25 people initially charged in one of the largest gang cases to come out of Indian Country.
