CINCINNATI (AP) — A prosecutor says a man has been charged with murder and felonious assault in the death of a 6-month-old boy in southwest Ohio.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters says 21-year-old Frederick Mitchell, of Cincinnati, was indicted Friday and could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.

Authorities say Mitchell was an acquaintance of the child's mother and was home alone with Elliot Megrditchian on March 8 when he called 911 to report that the baby was not breathing.

The baby was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where he died March 10th.

The Hamilton County Coroner ruled this week that the death was homicide as the result of blunt force.

Mitchell's bail was set at $1 million. His attorney didn't immediately return a call to his office Friday.
