MILWAUKEE (AP) — A private prep school in suburban Milwaukee will pay $37,500 to settle a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced the settlement Thursday with the University School of Milwaukee.
The EEOC's lawsuit alleged the pre-kindergarten-through-grade-12 school terminated Mallory Barker because of her pregnancy. Barker was an arts and crafts coordinator in the school's after-school program.
Under a consent decree settling the lawsuit, the University School will pay Barker $37,500. The settlement also prohibits future discrimination.
The EEOC says the school also will train its employees, managers and supervisors about pregnancy discrimination.
