CINCINNATI (AP) — A southeastern Ohio man is accusing two police officers of beating him during an unwarranted traffic stop and delaying taking him to the hospital when he feared he was having a heart attack.
Those allegations were filed in a lawsuit in federal court in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
In the lawsuit, Dennis Lehman (LEE'-man) accuses Nelsonville police officers Duane Covert and Alex Brown of violating his civil rights and using excessive force stemming from an April 2011 traffic stop.
Lehman says the officers beat him for two to three minutes even though he was unarmed, had made no threats and hadn't assaulted them.
The lawsuit seeks $250,000.
Covert says he doesn't remember the incident but that he's "not an abusive officer." Brown's number isn't listed. He couldn't be reached for comment.
