MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — A Detroit-area man faces sentencing in the death of his 360-pound wife, who authorities say was allowed to fester in a bed surrounded by her own waste.

Michael Brooks pleaded guilty in January to a felony charge of abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Yolanda Reese-Brooks died of morbid obesity and other injuries in October.

Prosecutors say Michael Brooks was his 40-year-old wife's primary caretaker after a 2011 auto crash crushed her pelvis and ruptured her bladder. She weighed about 360 pounds when an emergency crew wearing protective gear removed her from an apartment in Warren.

Brooks is to be sentenced Wednesday in Macomb County Circuit Court in Mount Clemens.

Prosecutors have said guidelines call for a sentence of 10 to 23 months.
