Coroner: Ohio baby's death was a homicide

CINCINNATI (AP) — Police are investigating a 6-month old boy's death that a coroner has ruled a homicide.

Cincinnati police say the Hamilton County coroner made the ruling Tuesday in the death of Elliott Megrditchian who died at a Cincinnati hospital on Sunday.

Police say they responded to a home on Friday after receiving a report of a child there who was not breathing. The baby was taken to a hospital with injuries that police say he received while in the care of 20-year-old Frederick Mitchell of Cincinnati.

Police arrested Mitchell on Friday on a charge of felonious assault. The police report and court documents don't detail the baby's injuries other than to say that Mitchell caused "serious physical harm."

Mitchell's attorney did not return a call to his office Tuesday.
