MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say an infant suffered serious bite wounds to her face when a dog attacked her in a central New Jersey home.

But officials say the year-old girl is expected to fully recover from her injuries.

The Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/10v4vWa) of Neptune reports that the child suffered several puncture wounds when she was bit by a husky around 7 p.m. Friday in Middletown. She was taken to a hospital for treatment, but further details on her condition were not available on Saturday.

It's not clear why the dog bit the girl, whose name was not released. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The attack remains under investigation.
