Grant to fund food program for Detroit students

DETROIT (AP) — A federal grant will help bring healthy food to 16,000 low-income Detroit Public Schools students during the summer.

State Education and Detroit Schools officials will announce the program Tuesday morning at Spain Elementary north of downtown.

The program is expected to bring more than $2.1 million to participating Detroit area grocery stores.
