TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A 44-year-old Buhl woman's trials in two fraud cases have been cancelled pending an evaluation to determine if she is mentally fit to stand trial.
The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/XnGM7q) Lisa Dawn Holley's attorney said Monday he's concerned about her ability to understand court proceedings and the charges against her. Prosecutors agreed to the delay.
Holley and her husband are charged with grand theft by deception for raising money for what they said was their daughter's cancer treatment. Investigators determined their daughter does not have cancer.
Lisa Holley faces a separate charge of grand theft by deception by falsely claiming she was pregnant with triplets to receive more than $1,000 in cash and goods from church members in Buhl.
A mental health evaluation also has been ordered for 54-year-old Michael Holley.
