ULM to rename nursing building for philanthropist

MONROE, La. (AP) — The nursing building at the University of Louisiana-Monroe will be renamed in honor of philanthropist Kitty DeGree.

University President Nick Bruno tells The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/VQlwpV ) the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors approved the name change this past week.

Bruno said DeGree, who died in October 2012 at age 90, had been the university's most generous donor.

Bruno said she gave $7.4 million to the university.
