SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Michelle Obama has visited a Walmart in Springfield to promote her campaign to fight childhood obesity.
The first lady made the stop Thursday during a two-day tour celebrating her "Let's Move" campaign. She praised Walmart for giving customers what she called "healthy products at a price they can afford" and for opening stores in underserved communities.
The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/13r74t6 ) Mrs. Obama toured the southwest Missouri store with Walmart officials, who also announced a new "Great For You" icon the store is now using to highlight healthy foods.
Earlier Thursday, the first lady was in Chicago to announce a new public-private partnership to help schools get students to be more active. "Let's Move Active Schools" includes a website where schools can sign up to get started.
