BALTIMORE (AP) — An official at Johns Hopkins Hospital says in a letter to a crime victims' center that an employee had noticed Dr. Nikita Levy wearing what she believed was a pen camera while he was examining patients.
The letter from Dr. Paul B. Rothman, the dean of medical faculty and chief executive officer at Hopkins, said the employee told hospital officials about her suspicions on Feb. 4.
Rothman writes that Levy was barred from patient contact the next day and the hospital notified Baltimore police the day after.
Levy, who was found dead in his home on Feb. 18, an apparent suicide, is believed to have secretly recorded patients during gynecological exams.
Rothman was responding to a letter from lawyers for the Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center.
